Foreign delegates visit Timmayipally

A team of foreign delegates from Afghanistan, Canada, Nepal, Tanzania and Sri Lanka visited Timmayipally village in Nanganoor mandal on Saturday and interacted with local residents. In a move towards comprehensive development, as many as eight committees were formed in the village which include care and share, education, health, environment, health and fight against bad practices like sorcery.

These committees meet on eighth of every month and plan their future course of action. The education committee has been taking care of all children being admitted in schools and none of them was a drop out while health committee will enquire health of everyone in the village in addition to seeing that pregnant women will get admitted in government hospitals for deliveries.

The food committee for example supervises cultivation under organic farming and as many as 60 farmers following this method of cultivation. The delegates were impressed with the functioning of village committee teams. It was proposed that Batukamma festival would be formally inaugurated by the widows as an effort to come out of the wrong believes.
