Bus driver alleges gaping holes in security arrangements by school management

The formalities for police verification of Ashok Kumar, the accused in the Ryan International School murder case, were carried out after the police decided to arrest him, claimed Dinesh, a fellow villager and bus driver at the school.

Dinesh, who was present at the house of accused on Saturday afternoon, claimed that the contractor asked him to go and collect two photographs, Aadhar card and a voter-identity card of Ashok from his home around noon on Friday.

‘Saw bloodied clothes’

“I had already submitted my documents at the time of joining the job around 8 months ago. But it seems the police verification of Ashok was not done,” said Dinesh, pointing out a gaping hole in the security arrangements made by the school management.

He also claimed to have have spoken to Ashok briefly in the morning after the incident.

“I reached the school around 9 a.m. when I saw Ashok with blood on his clothes. He told me that a boy was injured and he had helped the staff carry him to the car. I then went for a second trip as one of our buses had broken down,” said Mr. Dinesh.

Common toilets

He also claimed that the bus drivers and conductors were allowed to use the toilet meant for the students as there were no separate toilets for them.

“We demanded several times for a separate toilet and drinking water facilities. But the management would not listen. We used to frequent the toilet where the murder took place as there was no separate arrangement for us,” he said.

Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, Sandeep Khirwar, said during a press conference that it was not immediately known whether the police verification of the driver was done or not.
