
A 19-year-old girl suffered injuries and one militant was gunned down in Shopian district of Kashmir in an attack carried out on army vehicles in the area, news agency ANI reported. The attack took place in Imam Sahib area of Shopian on a day when Home Minister Rajnath Singh began his four day visit to Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar, to take stock of development and security status in the state.
Earlier in the day, a policeman was killed and two others were injured in a attack by militants on the police party in Anantnag. The attack took place just 500 yards away from the venue of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting on Sunday. Singh reached Srinagar on Saturday and conducted a series of meeting with the J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti and top officials from the state.
The home minister will also be meeting several delegations during his stay besides reviewing the overall security situation. He will also hold talks with Governor NN Vohra during his visit.
A 22-year-old civilian was injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistani Army across the Line of Control on Saturday. the firing commenced at 10.30 am with heavy weapons and mortars from across the border in Debraj, Krishna Ghati and Ishapur in Mendhar sector. The firing prompted retalliation by Indian troops, a police officer said.
