KOZHIKODE: As many as 5,100 students of government-aided high schools in Kozhikode district are attending the two-day e@Utsav, an initiative of the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE).

The first phase of e@Utsav for members of Hi School Kuttikoottam in the district concluded on Friday, while the second batch started on Saturday.

As many as 2,613 students attended the first camp, which focused on animation, electronics, hardware, cybersecurity, and Malayalam computing. e@Utsav is organised at 115 centres with the help of 230 resource persons, an official statement said here.

More to benefit

Hi School Kuttikoottam, modelled on the lines of the Student Police Cadets project, was formed with the existing IT clubs at schools. It began functioning in January 2017 and is aimed to bring one lakh students into the collective.

The benefits will reach 10 lakh students in the coming years.

The first phase of training was completed at the school-level. Subsequently, the e@Utsav camp touched upon various topics. The training is offered using independent software.

The camp will enable students to take part in Google India’s 2017 Code to Learn contest.

Besides, it will help them build advanced circuits using electronic kits developed at schools, use Raspberry Pi and visual programming software projects.

The students will be taught graphic software to facilitate them to make their own short animation films.

Special training

Expert training will be given to students on updating school wiki, setting up school news desks for online publication and cybersecurity. The participants will be imparted training in operating IT equipment with classrooms going hi-tech.

Further, they will be taught software installation, connectivity, and e-waste management.
