Three-year-old wandered away from mother

A three-year-old boy was kidnapped outside Vashi station on Wednesday afternoon.

The boy, a resident of a hutment opposite Kerala Bhavan in Vashi, had gone to buy a vadapav with his mother near the station at around 12 pm when he went missing. CCTV footage showed the abductor boarding a Panvel-bound train with the child at 1.03 p.m. from Platform No. 3.

A police official said, “The child left the mother’s hand while she was buying the vadapav. When she looked around for him, he was nowhere to be found. She then approached us and we found CCTV footage of a young man carrying the boy. We suspect that the accused is a drug addict. Neither the boy nor the accused have been found yet.” A case has been registered under section 363 (kidnap) of the Indian Penal Code.
