Three foreigners detained for overstaying in India

Press Trust of India  |  Hyderabad

The Cyberabad Police today detained three foreign nationals for overstaying in the country and are questioning them, a senior official said.

"They were picked up on charges of overstaying... And are being questioned," Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya told PTI.

The police, however, declined to reveal their identity or nationality.

Shandilya dismissed reports in a section of the media that the three persons were detained on "terror charges".

The commissioner said the police seized an Indian passport from one of the detained persons and that it seemed "fake".

A probe is underway, Shandilya said.
