Asks NBCC to explore overseas opportunities
The new Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, has urged public sector undertaking NBCC (India) Ltd to work towards becoming a $3-billion company. Government officials privy to the discussions said the Minister asked NBCC “to think even bigger and increase its international profile in the context of the construction sector having been opened to FDI and consider getting listed on foreign bourses, being a $3-billion company”.
NBCC is one of the most sought after companies on the bourses with the share price surging over 80 per cent in the past one year. NBCC had an order book of over Rs 36,000 crore in hand till March 2016.
Puri also advised NBCC to participate in commercial bidding for taking up projects of Indian missions in various countries by talking to the concerned in the External Affairs Ministries and mission heads.
