4,000 cases to be taken up at National Lok Adalat tomorrow

A variety of cases, including those related to claims of workers, will be dealt with

More than 4,000 cases will be taken up for hearing at the National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

Four benches will be constituted inside the premises of Legal Services Authority Complex, No. 3, Lal Bahadur Shastri Street, and five benches at the Integrated Court Complex.

The specially constituted benches will hear criminal compoundable cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, motor vehicle tribunal cases, matrimonial/family court cases, land acquisition cases, revenue cases and cases pertaining to electricity, water bills and service matters.

Labour disputes, including cases where re-employment with no back wages (as per policy), will be disposed. Cases related to liquidation where claims of industrial workers for wages and other benefits were pending would be taken up for hearing, a release from the Legal Services Authority here said.

Three Benches

Civil cases related to rent, bank recovery, easement rights, and debt recovery tribunal will be taken up. Lok Adalat benches would be set up in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions on the same day. Public could use the opportunity to settle disputes, the release said.

S. Ramalingam, Chief Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services; G. Sendhil Kumar, Secretary to Government (Law); V. Sofana Devi, District Judge, Member Secretary; M. Thirukannaselvam, president, Puducherry Bar Association; judicial officers, senior government officials, representatives of banks, and insurance companies would attend the adalat.
