Teachers of Baldwin Co Education Extension High School in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, staged a protest against the school manager on Friday and locked themselves on school premises.

Teachers alleged that the manager was rude, abusive and did not give the staff the respect they deserve.

“Despite our best efforts, it has become difficult to work with her. We urge the management to remove her immediately. We will not leave the school premises till she is removed,” they said.

Vice president of the institution Rev David Nathaniel said they were aware of the issue and the board will meet and take a decision soon. “We heard some remarks about Bina Peter, the school manager, last month. Later, we had received some oral complaints. Since there was nothing in writing, we thought the issue would be resolved. We have reached out to the protesters. We have told them that the board will take a decision soon,” he told DH.

The same manager had faced protests by Baldwin Boys High School after the staff staged a protest that went on from afternoon to night. The management sacked her from the post on August 1. “After she was rejected there, the management transferred her here. She has continued the same attitude and has made us suffer,” teachers alleged.

The protest on Friday started at 3 pm and continued till 10 am as teachers refused to leave till they get “justice”.

Rev Nathaniel said efforts were on to pacify the teachers but there was no decision on retaining or sacking the manager as yet.
