Adult education scheme to include digital literacy

The Centre has decided to redesign its adult literacy programme to include modules on new and emerging areas like digital literacy.
The idea is to transform India into a 100% literate nation by 2022.
The Human Resource Development Ministry is also planning to launch a ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ (let’s go to school campaign) next year to stir adolescents and youngsters who had never been to school.
The ministry is also considering involving school students in adult education programmes ‘Sakshar Bharat’ programme,.
“If we implement these three programmes, we will definitely be able to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of transforming India into a 100% literate country by 2022,” HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
