Actor Tilak is on a roll these days. He has bagged a meaty role in the big budget film ‘The Villain’ alongside actors Shivarajkumar and Sudeep. He has also signed another film with a big banner which he doesn’t want to reveal at the moment. These apart, his project ‘Sarvasa’ is up for release in October.
Tilak doesn’t believe in resting on his laurels though. He wishes to explore the actor in him and work on performance-oriented projects that are more than just fairytale and fiction. In this context, he has found what he was looking for in ‘Sarvasa’, where he portrays the life of a struggling director.
“It is not usually easy to step into the shoes of a director, even if it is just for a role in a movie. ‘Sarvasa’ talks about love which is not just between a man and a woman but love in general. It encompasses everything that can be categorised under love. This approach is what made me sign on the dotted line,” says Tilak.
Elaborating on his role, Tilak says that is was quite easy for him to interpret the character of a director. “My experience of working with directors came in handy for this role. The director is the captain of the ship and he knows exactly how the film is progressing and the direction it is heading in. But his job is a thankless one. People only focus on the actors and the glamour quotient,” says Tilak.
He also points out that the script is not a run-of-the-mill love story. “There are a lot of real elements in the film. It is a romantic film but the treatment is totally different. It is this approach that makes it a totally watchable and fun-filled film,”he adds.
The actor is also thrilled that he has been picked to play a unique role in ‘The Villain’. About his role, Tilak says, “My character, called Alex, has two shades in the film which the audience will get to see. I can’t reveal more than this,” he says.
Tilak also shares that working with two stalwarts like Shivarajkumar and Sudeep has been a humbling experience. About director Prem, he says, “Prem is the most chilled out director that I have worked with so far. Even when we faced some issues when shooting in London, he seemed unfazed and handled the situation in a cool way. I have never seen him getting stressed on the sets.”
Tilak has also signed another film called ‘Twinkle’ where he will be seen essaying a unique role. “I will be portraying the life and journey of a ruthless man. There’s no violence or bloodshed in the movie. The character has been designed to thrill and entertain,” he says.
