For ‘Poochi’ Venkat, small has always been beautiful. Even as a child, he liked small cars and miniature aeroplanes. This is perhaps how he fell in love with the small ones in the animal kingdom — insects.
Vital role
“Don’t squish them. You need insects if you need birds. You need insects if your tiger has to survive. They are part of the food chain,” he said.
Speaking after the launch of his publication titled “Insects guardians of Nature”, published by Kalamkriya, an in-house creative agency of The Sanmar Group at Amethyst on Wednesday, he said his photographs are attempts at showing insects in a beautiful manner.
Launching the book, G. Ravichandran, chief of dermatology, Apollo Hospitals, himself a nature photography enthusiast, said he was amazed at the collection of photos of insects and the manner in which they have been captured. Historian S. Muthiah received the first copy of the book that is a free publication. Chandra Sankar, director and publisher, Kalamkriya, was also present on the occasion. An exhibition of photographs was also held at the venue.
The book also contains sketches by professional artist Narendra Babu.
