The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has represented to Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari to take action against the corporate colleges that are running the colleges violating the norms.
The seriousness in the issues at the colleges reflects from the fact that three students committed suicide in these colleges in August itself but no action was initiated against the institutions or its managements.
State Secretary of ABVP L. Ayyappa said that Narayana and Sri Chaitanya colleges were admitting thousands of students while they had permission for only 29 colleges. “Why is the Government silent on this,” he asked.
The ABVP also demanded that Intermediate admissions be made online like the degree colleges and the professional courses so that students get to choose the best college. “It is unfortunate that agents of corporate colleges are pressurising parents of school students now itself to reserve seats in their colleges,” Mr. Ayyappa said.
The ABVP also welcomed the decision to conduct another phase of degree admissions and wanted a chance for those students who had not registered earlier for online admissions.
