At least 1,591 people died in road accidents in Delhi last year, the highest among million-plus population cities in the country, an official report said on Wednesday.
Delhi also came a close second to Chennai in the number of road accidents, with 7,375 accidents recorded in 2016 in the national capital, the 'Road Accidents in India - 2016' report released by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said.
Chennai reported 7,486 road accidents, the highest among all cities with million-plus population.
The report contains information on various facets of road accidents in states, Union territories and high-population cities and in the country as a whole for the calendar year 2016.
