UP govt raises monthly honorarium of shiksha mitras

Press Trust of India  |  Lucknow

The today gave its nod to increase the monthly honorarium to shiksha mitras of the state from Rs 3,500 to Rs 10,000.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state Power Minister Srikant Sharma said.

Over 1.69 lakh shiksha mitras (ad-hoc teachers) in the state have been on a warpath with the state for regularisation of their services as assistant teachers.

The Supreme had on July 25 quashed the appointment of shiksha mitras as teachers drawing regular pay scale.

The move to appoint shiksha mitras as full-time teachers was taken by the previous regime in 2014.

"The state also decided to install 10,000 solar portable irrigation pumps this year, whereas the same number of solar pumps were installed in three years' time earlier," state Irrigation Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, who was also present at the briefing, said.

This will help in enhancing irrigation facilities for farmers, he said.
