Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday hit back at opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav saying he owns 30 properties worth several crores aged 28. Modi showed papers purportedly establishing that MLCs Kumar Rakesh Ranjan and Mohammad Shamim had given their plots worth crores to Tejashwi’s mother, Rabri Devi, besides writing a will for the same in favour of the opposition leader and his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav.
“Kumar Rakesh Ranjan and Mohammad Shamim were made MLCs in 1999 and 2006. On May 12, 2005, they marked their plots to Rabri Devi through power of attorney, besides writing a will in favour of her sons, Tejashwi and Tej Pratap,” Modi told reporters at a press conference in Patna. He added the four plots in Patna, which were mentioned in Devi’s affidavits to the Election Commission, were “written off” in the names of RJD leader Lalu Prasad’s family members the same day. “Why would Ranjan bequeath the plot, worth crores, to his only son and hand it over to Rabri and her sons?” Modi asked.
Tejashwi had last week leveled similar allegations regarding Modi’s flats in Vaishali (Ghaziabad). He had alleged Modi had given power of attorney to his elder brother, R K Modi, and his sons to buy the flats. Modi has denied the allegations. RJD leaders could not be reached for comments over Modi’s fresh allegations.
