The ACB has booked Veeranki Ranga Rao, an assistant engineer in the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APEPDCL), for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Ranga Rao was working at Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district when he was caught red-handed in January this year while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from a complainant. He was arrested and sent to remand.

“At present, he is under suspension,” said ACB DSP (Vizag urban) K. Ramakrishna Prasad.

Thereafter, the ACB launched investigation under DA case and booked him on Wednesday for possessing assets over ₹1 crore.

The ACB conducted raids in Visakhapatnam, Atchutapuram, and Achanta in West Godavari.

Properties unearthed included a residential flat of 1,625 sft at Madhavadhara, a house on 10 cents at Venkatapuram of Kaikaluru mandal in Krishna district, and two house sites at Chinamushidiwada of Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam.

The ACB also seized two two-wheelers, one car, 213 gm of gold ornaments, ₹3.08 lakh worth household articles, and fixed deposits valued at ₹6.78 lakh.
