Party not confronting govt, merely seeking protection: Limbavali
BJP state general secretary Aravind Limbavali declared that the BJP Yuva Morcha will organise the bike rally, padayatre and protest meeting in Mangaluru on Thursday.
After the protest meeting, the protesters will lay siege to the deputy commissioner’s office, he added.
Briefing reporters, he said that the state government had clamped down the BJP bike rally using police force. “The rally will be held from Ambedkar Circle in Mangaluru, in which 1,000 people on motorbikes and padayatre with 5,000 will participate. The BJP activists from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will take part.During the BJP tenure, the Congress had carried out a padayatre from Bengaluru to Ballari, for 15 days. The then BJP-led government had given them full protection throughout. Now, the Congress government has imposed an emergency-like situation by restricting the rally and protest march,” he said.
“The BJP is not in confrontation with the government. Instead, it is the government which is in confrontation with us. We had only sought protection for peaceful protest rally,” he insisted.
Further, he said that the government has seized 4,188 bikes that were supposed to take part in the protest rally and arrested 6,947 activists so far. The ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ rally will be led by BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa. BJP leaders like K S Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar too will take part in the rally.
Limbavali said that instead of arresting the assailants who were responsible for the murder of RSS functionaries and Hindu activists, the government is engaged in initiating action against patriots. Those who were responsible for the murder of Hindu activists have links with IS. Such organisations should be banned, he demanded.
‘Not only Mangaluru’
The ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ will not be restricted to Mangaluru alone. BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa will make an announcement on the future course of action during the protest on Thursday, said Limbavali.
He also urged the state government to hand over all the murders of Hindu activists in the state to CBI for a probe.
