A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice Uma Devi on Tuesday said it will hear arguments in the public interest litigation filed challenging the constitutional validity of GO Ms 39 issued by Telangana government wherein the ministers were given powers to pick members for the proposed farmer coordination committees. The PIL was filed by Satyanarayana Reddy of Ranga Reddy district. He contended that all the benefits under government schemes, including direct cash benefit, would be given as per recommendations of these councils/committees.
The formation of these committees violates provisions of the Constitution, especially the 73rd Constitutional Amendment which had given vast powers to gram panchayats. A mention was made requesting the court to take up this matter urgently.
Hearing on Tuesday
The Bench said it would take up the case next Tuesday.
