District administration hosts it on palace premises

Mahouts and kavadis of Dasara elephants and their family members, who have been camping on the Mysuru palace premises since their arrival for the festivities, were given a special breakfast on Tuesday.

The district administration hosted the breakfast on the palace premises and district in-charge Minister H.C. Mahadevappa himself served food to the mahouts and acknowledged their services.

M.K. Somashekar, MLA, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep and several officers were present on the occasion. They later joined the guests and had breakfast with them. After the breakfast, a team of doctors from JSS Hospital conducted a health check-up camp for the mahouts, kavadis and their kin.

Teachers felicitated

Teachers taking classes for the children of mahouts and kavadis at the makeshift school called ‘tent school’ on the palace premises were felicitated on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. The tent school has been set up to ensure that the children don’t miss out on classes while accompanying their parents for the Dasara festivities.
