Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the Muchumarri lift irrigation in Kurnool district would be commissioned on September 7. The Chief Minister conducted the weekly virtual review of the Polavaram project and reviewed the progress in other irrigation projects.

The officials informed Mr. Naidu that Thriveni machinery was fully functional this week, and that 9,000 cubic metres of excavation had been achieved per day. From today, the machine would be operated in the night shift as well, ensuring it reached its full capacity of 18,000 cubic metres per day.

The target for completion of spill channel was the end of this month, whereas the target for 902 Hill was the end of January.

Two pumps in the Purushothapatnam lift irrigation project are fully functioning and the 3rd pump has been erected. The scheme would start functioning fully from September 7.

Officials from SHAR reported to the Chief Minister that upper Krishna would receive light rainfall from September 7 to 9.

Tungabhadra will receive 20 tmcft in the next 10 days.

Rayalaseema, Anantapur, Chithoor, Kurnool and Kadapa will receive a good average of 30 to 40 mm.

Geo portal

The website www.apwrims.ap.gov.in has been updated and is now live with real-time information about the water resources. The geo portal contains an interactive map, which can provide details about the status and water available at every project including MI tanks, WC structures, farm ponds and reservoirs, by zooming in to the village level.

The Chief Minister announced that all district officials must take ownership of the Jala Siri Harathi event and make it a success. The events and exhibitions must be organised for the benefit of the common man. The event would be kicked off in Narasapuram in Visakhapatnam district on September 6.

“The entire State must celebrate and worship nature in these three days. This is a good opportunity for officials to spread awareness about water conservation and techniques to harvest water,” he said.

The Chief Minister will participate in the festival by visiting the major irrigation projects on all the three days.
