Films to be screened at multiplexes instead of single screens

This year’s Dasara Film Festival has been christened ‘Mysuru Dasara Film Festival (MyDEF)’.

Nearly 50 films will be screened between September 22 and 28. For the first time, the films will be screened at DRC and INOX multiplexes here instead of single screens.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the festival at Kalamandira here on September 21. Minister in-charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa will be present.

Deputy Commissioner and Dasara Special Officer D. Randeep told reporters here on Monday that a new ‘dimension’ has been given to this year’s film festival. The world’s best films besides new, popular, and message-oriented Kannada films will be screened at MyDEF, he said. One screen in each multiplex had been allotted to screen the films and four films will be screened on each screen daily during the festival, Mr Randeep said.

The film festival sub-committee released the logo and the digital promo. Assistant Director to Information and Public Relations Raju and committee members were present.

Breakfast for mahouts

Meanwhile, the Dasara Festival Committee is hosting breakfast for the mahouts and kavadis of Dasara elephants and their family members on Tuesday on the palace premises.

Mr. Mahadevappa will be present. The mahouts and their families are camping on the palace premises since they arrived from the jungle camps with the elephants. The animals are being trained for the Jamboo Savari.
