According to the article, Wright said that he recalled the days when he would receive 50 cents instead of a dollar for a chore badly completed, and he didn't want to put his children—Josalyn, 12, and Jaxon, 9—through the same disappointment. Instead, he and his wife have a rule that after the kids first complete their chores and homework, they can start on their money-making exercises.
"My kids do their chores, because that's just what they do," he said, and then added jokingly, "I feed them dinner. I keep them safe from bears. They should take out the trash."
Wright, one of 100 contestants who made it to the American Ninja Warrior finals this year, is also an elementary school P.E. teacher in his hometown of North Fort Myers, Florida. As is the norm in this day and age, there will surely be a massive debate somewhere on the Internet concerning his approach to fatherhood, because everyone and their cat has an opinion on parenting. As for Wright, well, he says that he loves the incentive it provides his kids to spend time with him exercising.
"It's such a positive way to spend a lot of time with your kids," he said. "I love the life I live."
