12 apprehended in an anti-encroachment drive in Noida

An anti-encroachment squad razed a number of shops and houses and apprehended 12 people who opposed the drive in Gejha village here today.

The development authority and a police team destroyed over 40 shops and 50 houses to free an area that has been encroached upon.


Additional Chief Executive Officer of development authority R K Mishra said the villagers had encroached upon a large piece of land.

The department had issued notices a number of times, but the villagers did not respond, he said.

The authorities were able to clear about 30,000 square metres of land worth crores of rupees, he said.
