HP Launches Pro 8 Tablet In India; To Support Government’s Digital India Vision

American conglomerate HP on Tuesday (5 September) has introduced its new range of HP Pro 8 tablets in India. Starting at Rs 19,374 depending on the features and customizations specified, the tablet is in line with the government’s Digital India vision.

This specially designed range of HP Pro8 tablets with voice-calling is aimed at supporting financial inclusion, monitoring subsidy distribution through Aadhaar authentication and delivering other benefits of government schemes. The device range has been specially designed for rugged Indian field conditions.

HP Pro 8 features an 8-inch diagonal HD (1280x800) IPS display, and is backed by a 6000mAh battery which lasts for up to 15 hours. The tablet is water and dust resistant.

The tablet runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and powered by a MediaTek MTK MT8735 Quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM. It has 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB through a MicroSD card.

The highlight of the range is a host of customizable configurations that include – iris scanner and fingerprint reader for Aadhar based authentication; magnetic stripe reader and thermal printer for transaction management and; bar code reader for inventory management and tracking.

Connectivity options are - 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth; Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio-jack, GPS and A-GPS. The tablet measures 210.7 x 128 x 11.9mm.

The Pro8 tablet range comprises an 8 inch tablet, coupled with a host of customizable features that will allow the delivery of services such as – financial inclusion and benefit schemes, efficient delivery of subsidized food products under the Public Distribution System, comprehensive monitoring of various healthcare initiatives  and many other flagship programmes run by Central and State governments.

The range can also be offered under the Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) model. They will be supported onsite by HP’s extensive customer support network across the country, along with a optional 3 years onsite warranty. In addition, the devices can come with pre-loaded apps to support various functionalities.
