Prof held for mowing down woman

The Yeshwanthpur traffic police arrested a 57-year-old professor on Tuesday on the charge of mowing down a 74-year-old homemaker while speeding in his car.
K S Nagaraj, a resident of MSR Nagar near Mathikere, and a Physics professor at a private college on Dr Rajkumar Road, has confessed that the accident occurred while he was hurrying to the college. The police have seized his car.
According to the police, on September 1, around 7.30 pm, Nagaraj was rushing to college, when Yaliyamma Jacob was walking towards the bus stop after visiting
a church. His speeding car
hit Yaliyamma on HMT Main Road and she sustained serious injuries.
Yaliyamma was shifted to a private hospital where she died the same evening. Nagaraj told the police that he was speeding since he had to reach college by 7.45 am. Later, he parked his car at a friend’s place and returned home by bus.
