The Congress party was ready to make any sacrifice in order to maintain the peace and tranquillity in the Dakshina Kannada, said Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader.

Speaking to reporters after district level Teachers Day celebration here on Tuesday, Mr. Khader said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had failed to act against Peoples Front of India (PFI), Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Bajrang Dal, whose activists are allegedly involved in assaults and murders. "They failed to take action against these central organisations and now they are pointing fingers at us," he said.

Mr. Khader said the BJP has taken political advantage by fielding SDPI party candidate against him, B. Ramanath Rai and Mohiuddin Bawa in 2013 assembly elections. “In fact Mysuru MP Pratapsimha won because of split in our votes as SDPI party candidate was in fray," he said.

Mr. Khader said Congress will not allow BJP to continue with the politics of dividing the society on communal lines and creating tension in Dakshina Kannada. "We are ready for any sacrifice to maintain peace and tranquillity here," he said.

Minister in-charge for the district B. Ramanath Rai said the government was not against holding protest march and meetings, which the BJP can do. With a motorcycle rally there are chances of disturbances.

Mr. Rai said organisations, whose members are involved in murder cases, will not be invited for the peace rally the party was holding between Farangipet and Mani on September 12. "We cannot expect peace from organisations whose members are accused in murder cases," he said.
