Cong alleges spate of attacks on dalits in Tel, seeks action

The opposition today alleged that a number of attacks have taken place on since the came to power in in 2014 and asked the state to take concrete measures to prevent such incidents.

State unit president N Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the alleged attacks on and tribals in an open letter to Chief Minister following a self-immolation attempt by two youths over an alleged demand for bribe by a village officer in Karimnagar district.

Two men tried to set themselves on fire in front of the office of Manakondur legislator in Timmapur yesterday to protest against the demand for bribe allegedly made by the village revenue officer.

The officer was demanding the money for inclusion of the duo in the list of beneficiaries to be distributed land free of cost, the police said.
