A man has been arrested by the customs officials for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 30 lakh at the international airport here.
The accused was intercepted by the customs after his arrival from Dubai on Saturday.
"On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, one gold rod weighing one kg, having market value of Rs 29.82 lakh, was recovered from the passenger.
"The gold was concealed inside a machinery part being brought by him," a press release issued today by the customs said.
The 26-year-old passenger has been arrested and the gold seized.
