3 students drown in river

Three engineering students reportedly drowned in river Nethravathi at Innoli on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Monday.

According to the police, eight students of Srinivas Engineering College, Valacchil, had been to the river for swimming. The deceased have been identified as Sri Ram, a native of Chitradurga, Vikki from Belthangady and Shubham from Bihar, all are fifth semester students of the college. Other students who were with them are Indresh, Royson, Rohith, Vikhyath and Abhijith.

It is said that Sri Ram accidentally slipped and fell into the water. When Vikki and Shubham tried to rescue him, they too drowned.
