District unit of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has decided to stage road blockade agitation by farmers on National Highway 75 at Kendatti condemning delay in providing compensation to the farmers who lost their lands due to road developments.
Even thirteen years after the cultivable lands were acquired for the construction of roads, the Karnataka Industrial Development Board (KIADB) has not paid the farmers, KRRS said in a statement.
The authorities have turned a deaf ear to the pleas and numerous agitations by farmers in the past. Now it has become inevitable for them to launch a severe struggle, KRRS state unit vice president K. Narayana Gowda said in the release.
“Government should either compensate the farmers or return the land,” he said.
