Four persons of a family, including two children, were killed in a hit-and-run accident at Saram near Tindivanam in the early hours of Monday.
Police gave the names of the dead as Anitha, 45, her son Rajesh Kumar, 21 and nephews Punitha, 8, and Vijayan, 9, all hailing from Kancheepuram district.
Police sources said Rajesh Kumar, Anitha and the two children were going on a two-wheeler to Kancheepuram from Konjimangalam near Vanur. When they approached Saram village, a vehicle hit them and sped away. Rajesh Kumar, Punitha and Vijayan were killed on the spot.
Anitha died en route to Jipmer.
The bodies were sent to the Tindivanam Government Hospital.
