If permission granted, movies to be screened in Central prisons too: DC

This time, the Dasara Film Festival will be a grand affair as the Dasara Film Sub-Committee has planned it to match the international standards.

More than 50 films — regional language, national and internationally acclaimed movies — will be screened.
The authorities have roped in DRC Cinemas and Inox theatres for the festival. The multiplexes will screen four movies a day between September 22 and 28.

Chief Minister Sidda- ramaiah will inaugurate the film festival at Kalamandira on September 21 and district in-charge minister Dr H C Mahadevappa and a host of film stars will be present on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner, also Dasara Special Officer, D Randeep said that the authorities have listed out a few film stars and it will be finalised in a couple of days. World’s best cinemas, including new, popular and message-oriented ones and good Kannada cinemas are selected to be screened. “We also plan to screen a couple of movies at the Mysuru Central Prisons if permitted. In addition, an opportunity for kavadis and mahouts of Dasara elephants, children of Balamandira, deprived children, physically challenged persons will be provided an opportunity to watch the movies in multiplexes,” he said.

Registration must for Inox

While the movies screened in DRC Cinemas are open for all, only people above 18 years are allowed to watch the movies in Inox as few ‘A’ certified movies will be screened. Assistant Director for Information and Public Relations, also working president of the sub-committee, R Raju, said that the registration for Inox is a must and people who pay Rs 300 can watch all the movies. For the movies screened at DRC Cinemas, Rs 30 has been fixed for each show, he added.

The DC also released the Dasara Film Festival logo and a digital promo. He said, wide publicity will be given to the film festival. Sub-committee secretary Krishnappa and artistic director and Mysuru Film Society convener Manu were present.
