DMK working president M.K. Stalin has called an all-party meeting to chalk out the future course of action with regard to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Anna Arivalayam here on Monday.

In a statement, the DMK leader announced ₹10 lakh as solatium to the family of Anitha, the medical aspirant whose suicide prompted State-wide protests.

Holding both the Centre and the State government responsible for her death, Mr. Stalin recalled that whenever Tamil Nadu Ministers set off for New Delhi over the NEET issue, they assured that they would bring “good news”.

He also said, “They should own moral responsibility for Anitha’s death.”

Meanwhile, sidelined AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran made it clear that the MLAs on his side will not be taking part in the all-party meeting to be convened by the DMK on Monday to discuss the NEET issue.

Referring to the statement made by V. Dhivakaran, the brother of V.K. Sasikala, that the party would side with the DMK on the issue, Mr. Dhinakaran said that it was his (Mr. Dhivakaran’s) “personal opinion.”
