Scotches rumours on ‘removal’

Former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, who visited the district after resigning his post at the Centre, here on Sunday, said that he would rededicate himself to strengthen the party with greater zeal.

Replying a barrage of questions from the mediapersons on the conditions leading to his resignation, he said: “I find more pleasure in working for the party rather than being in the government. BJP is an ideological political party and we are all trained in the RSS and later BJP for the unity and welfare of people,” he said.

‘No parameters’

He said as such there were no parameters for measuring the performance of ministers and there was no truth in the media reports that he was asked to step down basing on his unimpressive performance. “All my colleagues in the Union Cabinet delivered their responsibilities with utmost commitment and effectiveness,” he said.

Responding to a question as to why no one from the two Telugu State found a place in the new Cabinet, Dattatreya said that he would take the matter to the notice of the party president and try to get justice done. He dismissed the opinions of some opposition leaders that the party had meted out injustice to BCs by removing him, he said: “I do not want to give credence to such things.”.

Arrangements reviewed

He was here to review the arrangements for the public meeting of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to be held on the Polytechnic College ground here on September 17 in connection with the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations. Party committees from five north Telangana districts attended the review.

Mr. Dattatreya said that the “Alai Balai” programme which he conducts every year on the day following Dasara festival at the party office in Hyderabad would not change and would be held on October 1 this year as usual at the party office.
