The High Court of Karnataka on Monday directed the BBMP to place the list of ward committee members before the BBMP council and get its approval.
A division bench comprising Justices Jayant Patel and B A Patil said ward committee members should be appointed according to provisions of the KMC Act, 1976. The bench was hearing a batch of petitions on nomination of ward committee members. BBMP had placed a list of ward committee members approved by the BBMP commissioner. The court, however, found that the list violated the KMC Act as approval from the BBMP Council was a must.
Deposit for OFC
The court has directed Tata Communications Limited to deposit Rs 1 crore and execute the work to draw optic fibre cables (OFCs) inside the ducts placed below TenderSURE footpaths. Hearing a petition by Tata, Justice Vineet Kothari refused to grant a stay on the BBMP notice which had asked Tata to pay Rs 2 crore to draw OFC cables inside the ducts.
