Visva-Bharati university students today agitated before the officiating Vice-Chancellor Swapan Kumar Dutta against alleged molestation of two girls by intruders.
The agitation was lifted after the VC told the students and later reporters that the security officer of the university Supriyo Ganguly has been asked to proceed on leave for an indefinite period.
Also four security guards of a private agency, who were on duty at the spot, were being removed, Dutta said.
The two girls alleged they were molested by two bike-borne miscreants while returning to their hostel after attending a cultural concert last night.
The intruders fled as the girls raised alarm, they said.
