Sultan Ahmed, Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP from West Bengal's Uluberia constituency, passed away on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 64.

Ahmed had been a Union Minister of State for Tourism in the UPA-II.

Expressing her condolences, Chief Minister tweeted: “Shocked and deeply saddened at the passing of Sultan Ahmed sitting @AITCOfficial LS MP & my long term colleague. Condolences to his family.”

According to sources, Ahmed suffered a massive heart attack at his home this morning. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared “brought dead”.
