Member of Parliament K. Kavitha, on Sunday, said she would adopt the Rupla Nayak tanda in Indalwai mandal for its all-round development. “Since the tanda is not a gram panchayat, I wanted to adopt it personally and not as an MP,” she said.
Teez festival
Taking part in Teez festival along with rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, she said the socio-economic and educational status of tribals was changing fast with the help of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s schemes for their welfare.
She said a total of 23 degree colleges were specially established for tribal students while hostels and residential institutions, that were plagued with problems earlier, were developed with all facilities. She wished that the Teez festival would bring peace and tranquillity, health and prosperity to all the Banjara tribals. In response to a resident’s request, she granted ₹5 lakh each for the construction of a youth building and a building for women. She also promised to sanction ₹2 lakh for the construction of an arch at the entrance of the village from her MP LAD fund. The Telangana Jagruthi would distribute sports material to youth here, she said. “I would explore the possibilities of sanctioning ₹15 lakh for CC roads in the tanda,” she said.
Bathukamma sarees
Ms. Kavitha appealed to women to receive new sarees for Bathukamma being distributed by the government for the festival.
Earlier, the MP laid foundation for some work meant for improving facilities at Hanuman Mandir at Sarangapur. MLC V.G. Goud, MLA B. Govardhan and industrialist P.S. Somani were also present.
