The league returns to Mysuru after a gap of one season.

The Mysuru leg of the sixth Karnataka Premier League will begin with the hosts Mysuru Warriors taking on Bijapur Bulls at the Srikantadatta Narasimaraja Wadiyar stadium here on Monday.

The league returns to Mysuru after a gap of one season. The 2016 edition was hit by the Cauvery water dispute and all games were played in Hubballi last season.

Defending champions Bellary Tuskers begin their title defence against Namma Shivamogga on Tuesday.

On the eve of the Mysuru leg, legendary Indian batsman G R Viswanath unveiled the orange cap (top run-getter), purple cap (top wicket-taker) and the trophy for the man of the series here on Sunday.

The opening two games of the league in Bengaluru turned out to be lopsided affairs, with Hubli Tigers and Mysuru Warriors registering easy victories.

The clash between Bengaluru Blasters and Mysuru Warriors was truncated to an eight-overs-a-side match on Saturday.

The Warriors produced an all-round performance to see off Bengaluru by 38 runs with Arjun Hoysala scoring an 18-ball 31 – a performance which earned him the Man of the Match award.

Arjun’s knock helped Mysuru set a daunting target of 85 and the Karun Nair-led side cruised to victory thanks to a spinless batting show from the Blasters.

Right arm medium pacer SL Akshay (3/6) was the most impressive bowler for the Warriors.
