The state BJP will soon petition Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking that the state government be dismissed for not implementing a Supreme Court order on Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swami Dargah, atop Bababudangiri in Chikkamagaluru district.

Addressing a press meet in Bengaluru on Sunday, BJP state general secretary C T Ravi pointed out that the Supreme Court in September 2015 had directed the Karnataka government to decide the title claims by Hindus and Muslims over the disputed cave shrine by giving an opportunity for all the stakeholders to express their opinion.

However, the government had only constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to study the order but had not taken any action, he alleged.

“Right from 1978, all the verdicts have been in favour of Hindus. However, the Congress government is not trying to solve the dispute due to vote bank politics,” Ravi said.
