Virat Kohli scores 30th ODI century, a look at his top 10 hundreds

Virat Kohli scored his 30th ODI ton in Colombo in the fifth and the final one-day match against Sri Lanka. The Indian skipper, who came into bat after the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, got to the three figures in 107 balls. With this, the 28-year old equals former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting's tally for second most ODI hundreds. However, Kohli has done the same in 171 less matches. Batting great Sachin Tendulkar leads the charts with 49 tons. His unbeaten 110 is also his second consecutive ton after his 131 off 96 balls in the fourth ODI.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been one of the most consistent performers in the modern day cricket. Ever since making his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2008, Kohli has been phenomenal in the limited overs format. He scored his 30th ODI hundred against Sri Lanka in the fifth and the final one-day in Colombo. By doing so, the 28-year old equalled Ricky Ponting's tally and now only trails Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 tons in the format.

Virat Kohli's blistering 131 off 96 against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI in Colombo guided India to a 168-run win and take 4-0 lead in the series. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India lost Shikhar Dhawan early. There after, Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored centuries each as the duo forged a 219-run partnership. Before Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni took India's total to 375/5. Kohli's 96-ball knock had 17 fours and two maximums.

Virat Kohli's unbeaten 133 against Sri Lanka in Hobart in the CB series is one of the best knocks by the right-handed batsman. It was yet another breathtaking performance by Virat Kohli as he scored his 26th ODI hundred helping India to seven-wicket win over New Zealand and takr a 2-1 lead in the ODI series. India had lost their openers with only 41 runs on the board befor Kohli and then skipper MS Dhoni forged a 151 run partnership to bring India back into the game. Kohli's unbeaten 154 included 16 fours and a maximum as the right-handed batsman guided India home with 10 balls remaining.

While Kohli had showed his class against all the ODI playing nations, he was yet to register his maiden hundred against South Africa. The right-handed batsman scored his first ODI ton against the Proteas at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in 2015. Playing on a slow surace, Kohli put on 104 with Ajinkya Rahane and 127 with Suresh Raina, to set India up for 299/8. In his much calculated knock, Kohli hit six fours and five sixes. With 299 to defend, India won the match by 35 runs. Kohli was named the Man of the Match for his knock.

Playing in his 133rd ODI, Virat Kohli becamce the fastest batsman to reach 20 ODI hundred when he scored a 114-ball 127 against West Indies at the HPCA stadium in Dharmasala. By doing so, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's record, as the latter had taken 197 innings to reach the same figures.

Virat Kohli had become a brutal force in the world of cricket and continued to surprise everyone with his performances. Leading the Indian team in the absence of MS Dhoni, Kohli scored a scintillating century as India thrashed Zimbabwe by six wickets in the series opener. Virat Kohli's 10 ODI century came against Sri Lanka during the 2012 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka. In four years, the right-handed batsman had become a crucial player in India's middle order. Kohli had enjoyed batting against Sri Lanka and it evident once against when he brought up his 10th one-day century when the men in blue needed his contribution the most. It was another disappointing start as India lost Sachin Tendulkar early, but it was Kohli and Gautam Gambhir's partnership that helped India rebuild their innings. Kohli and Gambhir scored century each as the duo added a 205 run for the first wicket partnership as they helped India post Sri Lanka a total of 305 runs in a match that was effected by rain. India went on to win the match by 50 runs.

Kohli scored 107 and along with left-handed batsman Gautam Gambhir guided India to seven-wicket win. Chasing 315, India had lost openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag early but it was Gambhir-Kohli partnership that helped India fight back and take an unassailable series lead. In his firstODI century, Kohli had smashed 11 fours and a six.
