Asks cyber crime branch and police to monitor the activities of the students

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday called upon the student community and youths to stop playing Blue Whale Challenge game.

Addressing the media, he stated that severe action would be taken against those playing this game. “I request those playing the games to immediately come out of it.

There are several schools, colleges and universities in Puducherry. We have ordered the cyber crime branch and police to monitor the activities of the students and take action on those playing this game,” he said.

Every parent had the dream of a bright future for their children, but the children were breaking their dreams by engaging in these harmful games, he added.

“Parents are spending sleepless night watching over their children. This has shaken the entire world. There have been several demands to ban this game,” Mr. Narayanasamy said.

In all states across the country, youth were committing suicide because of the game Blue Whale Challenge.

“Puducherry police and cyber crime branch are also probing whether the suicide of Pondicherry University student Sashi Bori was due to Blue Whale Challenge or depression,” he said. If possible, the government would bring in legislation to ban the game. “I request the Central government to take measures to stop this,” he said.

“Another unfortunate incident is the suicide of Anitha in Ariyalur. She committed suicide as she did not get MBBS seat under NEET. This is saddening and has shocked us. Puducherry government has consistently sought exemption from NEET,” he said.
