As Prime Minister Narendra Modi finalised the Cabinet reshuffle, the Congress on Saturday claimed that some ministers were being dropped as they were under the CBI scanner.

However, the central agency has refuted the Opposition party’s claim.

Reports had it that at least one minister was being dropped from the Council of Ministers after his name figured in a matter of financial impropriety, a report of which was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office.

“This news report is completely false, not based on facts, speculative and malicious,” a CBI statement said.

“Some suggest it is related to the Srijan scam, some say the matter pertains to medical college. There is no point in speculation,” senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

Stepping up heat on the government, the Congress said the prime minister cannot hide the corruption allegations against his minister under the carpet.

“If you are in the government, in the Council of Ministers… then there is one kind of accountability which begins with the number 0. If you are not, then there is a different kind of accountability which may even exceed 100%,” Singhvi said adding that opposition leaders were being targeted with probes by central agencies for even organising political rallies.
