BJP Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra, Nana Patole, openly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function in Nagpur.

“When the Prime minister is asked questions, he asks you if you have read the party manifesto and are aware of various government schemes,” Patole said a day ago.

The central BJP did not react to his outburst. However, senior Maharashtra minister Sudhir Munganttiwar disagreed with his view. “In fact Prime Minister Modi gives chance to party workers to speak and he always tries to understand the issue,” he
said.

A former Congress legislator, Patole joined the BJP before the 2014 general elections and defeated Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel from Gondia-Bhandara constituency.

Lately, Patole has been critical of the BJP leadership for being “friendly” with Patel.

According to Patole, Modi once got angry with him for raising issues such as problems faced by farmers
during a meeting of parliamentarians.

He also claimed that he had made suggestions such as raising green tax, increasing central funding for agriculture sector and creating an OBC ministry. “Instead of appreciating, Modi got angry and asked me to shut up,” he charged.

Patole was also critical of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying that he had failed to handle the mass protests by farmers properly.

“Lot of irrigation projects in backward Vidarbha region were pending because of lack of funds. But the state government miserably failed to pursue the issue with the union government,” he said.
