A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Naveen Rao on Friday directed the authorities of the GHMC, HMDA and revenue department to protect the Kapra lake in Ranga Reddy district. The bench directed the officers to act against encroachers.
The bench was dealing with a contempt petition filed by Save Our Urban Lakes. The bench had earlier directed the authorities to take action to protect FTL. The petitioner complained that there was no action and filed contempt case. The bench directed the registrar of the High Court to inspect and submit a report. The registrar pointed out several encroachments. The bench directed the authorities to act as per report of the registrar.
‘Stop illegal slaughter’
Justice Kodanda Ram of Hyderabad High Court directed the police to take action against persons who resort to cow slaughter during Bakrid. The judge was dealing with a case filed Goraksha Dal leader Purohit of Vijayawada. He alleged that the police were not taking action in spite of a complaint. He said the law prohibited calves from being butchered. The government pleader said that 60 cows which were ready for illegal butchering were identified. The judge called for a report from officers regarding the action taken and directed the officer to act as per law to stop illegal butchering.
