BJP State president K. Laxman’s Telangana Liberation Tour was kicked off on Friday morning from Musheerabad amid talk of Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya being called to Delhi for the Cabinet reshuffle scheduled for Sunday.
Mr. Dattatreya was supposed to have flagged of the week-long rally but as he rushed to the national capital on Thursday night, the honours were done by BJP Floor Leader in the Assembly G. Kishan Reddy and senior leader N. Janardhan Reddy.
TRS criticised
Later, addressing the party activists, the leaders were unanimous in criticising the TRS government for toeing the line of the erstwhile governments in united AP in not celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 as an official function even after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had made a hue and cry about it during the height of the separate State agitation.
Dr. Laxman recalled how the Nizam did not allow the people to hoist the national flag when the country gained Independence. It was the sacrifices made by the Telangana people in their fight against the tyrannical rule which fetched freedom here braving several atrocities and harassment.
Political pressure
His tour would be traversing 20 districts, 36 Assembly constituencies and 105 mandals.
Mr. Kishan Reddy accused KCR and his party of changing their tune with regard to celebrating the event and took objection to the praise of Nizam’s rule as also succumbing to the Majlis pressure. KCR’s appeasement policy will ensure the BJP come to power in the 2019 elections, said Dr. Janardhan Reddy.
