The District Congress Committee (DCC) president N. Rajender Reddy said he had no role in the murder of TRS corporator A. Murali and demanded that the State government order a CBI inquiry into the incident.
Mr. Reddy, who secured anticipatory bail from the High Court on Thursday, came to Warangal last evening. He said he had good terms with the slain leader but the ruling party leaders were unable to tolerate his political growth in the district. It was very sad that the TRS party was harassing the leaders of opposition parties. “They are trying to eliminate the Opposition in the State. That only proves the declining public faith in the ruling party,” Rajender Reddy said, adding that the Congress party can never be destroyed by the regional parties. The defeat in elections was only a temporary setback. People in Telangana were vexed with the anti-people policies of TRS and arrogant behaviour of Chief Minister KCR and his team in the State. “It is very sad that the ruling TRS party is playing dirty politics. People will definitely teach them a fitting lesson in the appropriate time,” the DCC president said.
Mr. Reddy was named accused number five in the murder of TRS corporator A. Murali.
Congress leaders Katla Srinivas, Namindla Srinivas, Rajanala Srihari and others were present.
