Residents pour out woes to Minister

Ganta along with GVMC Commissioner visits Madhurawada areas

Minister for HRD Ganja Srinivasa Rao has directed officials of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) to visit the wards extensively and take measures to alleviate the problems.

The HRD Minister visited P.M. Palem, Madhurawada, Boyalapalem and other areas in GVMC limits on Saturday along with GVMC Commissioner M. Harinarayanan and interacted with residents to know their problems.

While commending the GVMC officials for putting the city among the top cities in the country in cleanliness, Mr. Srinivasa Rao called upon them to strive to bring greater laurels to the city.

The zonal officers and staff should visit the wards every day and take feedback from the people on their problems.

At P.M. Palem, the residents told the Minister that improper flow of the drain water was resulting in the outbreak of epidemics. The officials explained to the Minister about the reasons behind the stagnation.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao told the residents that he would talk to the management of Jaatara-Shilparamam and strive to find a solution to the problem within a month.

At Boyapalem, the Minister pulled up the officials concerned for stagnation of a drain and growth of shrubs. He also questioned the officials for poor maintenance of the water supply pipelines.

Zonal Commissioner Satyaveni, S.E. Venu Gopal, EE s Yedukondalu and Chakravarthy were among those who were present.
