The BCCI has conveyed to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) that it will settle the bills (actuals) for the Australian squad’s stay in the city.
The TNCA was not satisfied with the initial offer made by the BCCI, vis-a-vis, the expenditure incurred while hosting the Australian team from September 8 to 18.
Then it wrote to the BCCI, seeking ₹1.50 crore for the same. The Board has now responded by saying it wouldl pay the actual expenses.
A reliable source told The Hindu here on Thursday, “The Board wrote to us today that it would pay the actuals for the Australian team’s stay here. The Board will pay directly to the vendors. The TNCA will source its vendors to them.”
Several members of the Australian ODI squad will start arriving in Chennai from September 8.
And those in the Australian Test team in Bangladesh, selected for the limited-over series in India, will land here a day later.
Practice game
During its rather lengthy lead-up to the first ODI in Chennai on September 17, the Australian team will play a practice game here.
The side will be put up in a five-star hotel and will be provided round-the-clock security cover. And the TNCA will not have to bother about the bills.
